The team had to push the row back because of the pandemic, but they are now officially on their way!

Ocean Revival is a team of serving and former serving Royal Marine Commandos, who have fought alongside each other at 45 Commando. They have now teamed up to take the fight against plastic by rowing across the North Atlantic Ocean, rowing a route that has never been completed before and one that is statistically the most dangerous and arduous ocean row to attempt.

The team are to row almost 4,000 miles the North Atlantic Ocean, a feat only 57 people in history have ever achieved. The crossing has previously been attempted a total of 72 times, with 29 successes, over 43 failures and which has sadly taken 6 ocean rowers’ lives. None have rowed from New York To London; Ocean Revival 2020 aims to be the first.

“An epic challenge and for an incredible cause – these Commandos are truly inspirational!”

They will face a relentless rowing routine of two hours rowing and two hours resting for up to 60 days. Whilst battling the ferocious weather systems of the North Atlantic; huge freezing swells over the Mid Atlantic Ridge; sleep deprivation; seasickness and the constant war against being wet, cold and hungry for its entirety; the team have two targets – to raise awareness for the plastic in our Oceans and the Royal Marines family.

The men, who have so far raised a massive £57,187 for RMA -The Royal Marines Charity and Plastic Oceans UK aim to become the first team to ever row from New York to London.

Their 25ft rowing boat was shipped to New York at the end of March and has now arrived Stateside any day soon, with the team flying out on April 24, giving them time to quarantine before assessing the weather, before setting-off from Brooklyn Bridge.

We will be pushing out regular updates across our social media channels. Please also check out the team’s social media pages here on Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn.

Good luck to Matt, Jordan, Ian and Simon, with support from shore-side manager Dom. A truly remarkable effort for our family.
