Helping Neil into long-term employment during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

On leaving the Corps, Neil took up a role as a Military Contract Officer in the United Arab Emirates. Following 8 years in the role, Neil left to pursue other opportunities and whilst Neil found these interesting and varied, these were mostly short-term in nature.

It was at this time that the Coronavirus pandemic hit.

Like many others, Neil became increasingly concerned as work opportunities started to slow down. He became one of an increasingly large number chasing fewer and few opportunities despite his best efforts and countless applications.

With these setbacks in mind, Neil decided to reach out to RMA – The Royal Marines Charity’s Employment & Education team.

Together, Neil and the team worked to enhance his CV, career prospects and connections, reaching out to contacts within our network that the team knew were actively looking to recruit.

Through these introductions, Neil discovered a company called Pristine Condition International Ltd, who invited him to an interview and ended up offering him the role.

“Getting selected was a huge relief; I had been out of work for quite a while and my confidence was being affected but thanks to RMA – The Royal Marines Charity I have found a role that is challenging but rewarding and an additional bonus is that I get to work with several former Royal Marines!”

Neil’s advice to anyone in a similar situation needing a highly qualified perspective is to reach out to our Employment & Education team.
