The auction features some sensational pieces, including the LS collection by Loren Somerville, an accomplished artist based in Shropshire. This military collection was created when Loren dated a Royal Marine in her early 20s. He was a Sniper and had access to the front line where he would take photos for her to paint from. Loren’s then boyfriend did three tours in total during his service, but one tour over their 4-year relationship. An original of Loren’s work can be seen hanging in the Officers’ Mess at CTCRM. The collection documents very real action and amazing service this Royal contributed to our nation.

Also featured are original oil paintings by Nick Redshaw, Chairman and Founder of the Arts Society. Nick joined the Royal Marines in 1985, he enjoyed significant success both professionally and representing the Royal Marines as a world class canoeist. Tragically, whilst preparing to compete at the 2000 Olympics, Nick suffered a series of life-threatening brain haemorrhages. As he underwent surgery to remove a huge mass from his brain his wife, Bethan, was told to prepare for the worst. Undeterred by the odds stacked against him, Nick made a strong physical recovery, returned to work, and represented Great Britain in the Wild Water Racing World Cup in New Zealand; where he won his first international medal.

Other items up for auction include prints of the exclusive and highly sought after ‘Band of Brothers’ by Mandy Shepard. The piece depicts Royal Marines in Afghanistan would significantly enhance any wall in the home or office.

The bidding is now open for your chance to secure a piece of Royal Marines heritage in time for Christmas. The auction closes at 16:00 on 12th December 2020.
