Brigadier Matt Jackson DSO

Brigadier Matt Jackson was born in 1971.  Educated at Oundle School and Jesus College, Cambridge, he joined the Royal Marines in Sep 94.  In command, he has been: a Troop Commander, Company Commander and the Commanding Officer at 40 Commando Royal Marines; a YO Batch Officer at CTCRM; and, in charge of recruiting as the Royal Marines Corps Colonel.  Most recently he commanded 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines.  At staff, he has been an AdC, a Military Assistant at PJHQ and Secretary to the Chiefs of Staff in MoD London.  Other staff jobs have included being the SO1 Training at CTCRM, SO1 J5 at HQ UKAMPHIBFOR and Assistant Director (Warfare) at HCSC.  He has operational experience gained from Northern Ireland, Bosnia, 3 tours to Iraq, and Afghanistan.  He was appointed in Aug 21 to be the Director of the Joint Services Command and Staff College.

He has two Masters Degrees and a Post-graduate Certificate.  He is Assistant Commandant General Royal Marines (Regimental Business), President Royal Marines Sports Association, Chairman of the UK Armed Forces Equestrian Association and President of the Royal Navy Amateur Rowing Association.  Matt is married and has three children.
