Wessex Reserve Forces' & Cadets Association
Salary:

Type of employment:
Full-time

The Wessex Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association (Wessex RFCA) invites, with immediate effect, applications for the above vacancy.

This role attracts Crown Servant status and is offered as a full-time, permanent position with a starting salary of £24,656 per annum.  Salary is aligned to MOD Civil Service Band E1 grade.

This role is based in Totnes with a requirement for travel throughout South Devon on a routine (daily) basis.  The post-holder will be furnished with a light goods vehicle for this purpose.

In addition to Bank Holidays and one privilege day, the successful applicant will be entitled to 25 days of paid annual leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service (or starting at 30 days if the successful applicant has 5 or more years of previous employment in public sector service).

The nature of this role requires some evening and weekend work, occasionally at short notice, and thus operates under an “All Hours Worked” contract.  This is based on an average 42 hour working week, averaged out over a 17-week period.  The basic salary quoted above incorporates an increment to recompense the incumbent for this condition of employment.

This role carries with it a requirement to serve as a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) with the ACF in at least the rank of Serjeant Major Instructor (SMI).  For those applicants who currently hold, or have held, an Armed Forces Commission (or if the successful applicant subsequently elects for, and is selected for, a Cadet Forces Commission), service may be in a rank up to that of Lieutenant.  Commensurately, up to 28 days per year of Volunteer Allowance at the daily rate appropriate to rank held may, at the discretion of the Cadet Commandant, be available to the incumbent.

This role additionally requires that the incumbent is resident at the two-week ACF annual Summer Camp, in their CFAV role, as a condition of their employment.  The Association offers Special Paid Leave in order that this condition may be met.

The successful applicant will be eligible for membership of the RFCA Pension Scheme.  This is a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) Scheme into which members contribute 5% of their gross pensionable salary.  Full details of the scheme are available on request.

Wessex RFCA operates an annual performance-linked bonus scheme aligned with that of the MOD Civil Service.
