About Us: The White Ensign Association is a charity dedicated to supporting the Royal Navy community. We provide essential support to serving personnel, veterans, and their families across a spectrum of financial, employment, and life administration matters. As we undergo transformative growth, we are seeking a dynamic Communications and Outreach Manager (C&O Mgr) to lead our strategic communications initiatives.

Job Summary: The C&O Mgr will play a pivotal role in increasing the White Ensign Association’s visibility, driving engagement, and enhancing our overall communications strategy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, and a hands-on approach to implementing impactful marketing campaigns and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Development:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the charity’s goals and objectives.
    • Identify target audiences and craft tailored messaging to effectively reach and engage them.
  2. Content Creation and Management:
    • Create compelling and engaging content for various channels, including social media, website, newsletters, and press releases.
    • Oversee the design and production of marketing materials to ensure brand consistency.
  3. Digital Exploitation:
    • Manage the charity’s digital presence, including website, social media platforms, and email marketing campaigns.
    • Analyse and report on marketing performance to optimize future campaigns.
  4. Event Coordination and Promotion:
    • Lead the organising of key events, working closely with senior management and other charities.
    • Develop promotional materials and campaigns to maximize event participation and visibility.
  5. Media Relations:
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts.
    • Coordinate press coverage, including writing press releases and managing inquiries.
  6. Budget Management:
    • Manage the communications budget to ensure cost-effectiveness and good ROI.
  7. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
    • Communicate the charity’s impact through annual reports and other channels.
  8. Team Leadership:
    • Lead a small team in the delivering of 1-2 high profile events a year.
    • Foster a collaborative and creative working environment.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field (preferably within the non-profit or charity sector).
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing successful marketing strategies.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms and AI, including social media management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative thinker with a strategic mindset and strong analytical skills.
  • Passion for the mission of the White Ensign Association and the Royal Navy communities.
  • Experience in the use of Mailchimp or similar and Adobe Creative Suite or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in the use of Google Analytics and report production
  • Knowledge of the military community and its unique challenges.
