A.W. Jenkinson Transport Ltd has a vacancy for an experienced and qualified LGV Mechanic/ Fitter to work at our Lockerbie site, repairing and maintaining LGV units and a varied range of trailers including walking floors, timber cranes, tippers, and curtain sided trailers.
The ideal applicant will have experience of maintaining LGV’s taking into account Health and Safety requirements whilst making the best use of time and resources.
Hours of work are variable but worked during dayshift, Monday to Friday inclusive, with alternate Saturdays. However, depending on workload, there may be a requirement to work additional hours.
Ideally you will come from a time served LGV background having attained appropriate City & Guilds, NVQ or B/TEC qualifications. More importantly you will have experience of working in a Heavy Goods Vehicle workshop.
The Role:
- Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, MOT Preparation and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standard.
- Carry out a wide range of defect repairs.
- Perform minor and major repairs on lorries and trailers.
- Carry out fault diagnostic, troubleshooting and rectification using the manufacturers computer systems.
- Complete job cards and service sheets in a timely manner.
- Repair and refurbish company trailers.
- LGV Licence desired however not essential.
- Good housekeeping routines to meet H&S requirements.
