RMA – The Royal Marines Charity

RMA – The Royal Marines Charity exist to support the whole Corps Family, from the youngest cadet to the oldest veteran, including their close family members.  We are her to help them in in their moment of need, as see ourselves as the instinctive first port of call for the Corps Family.  More widely, we seek to enhance the lived experience of serving Royal Marines and enable them to maintain the same spirit of comradeship throughout their lives that that enjoyed whilst serving.

 

RMA – The Royal Marines Charity is shortly opening new offices at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, near Exton between Exeter and Exmouth.  We are seeking an Office Cleaner who will be responsible for keeping the new offices clean and tidy, reporting defects and faults to the Building Manager as required.

 

The Building is c.370m2, of which about 90m2 is communal, 190m2 is office space and 90m2 is storage space.

The chosen candidate will be required to clean communal areas daily, office spaces twice weekly and storage spaces monthly.

Specific tasks (not comprehensive) will include:

Daily

  • Vacuuming of communal areas
  • Cleaning of kitchenette (including dirty dishes)
  • Emptying of office bins
  • Cleaning of toilet facilities
  • Replenishing toilet consumables

Twice Weekly

  • Vacuuming of offices
  • Sanitisation of door handles

Weekly

  • Cleaning of desks/office chairs
  • Watering plants (inside and out)
  • Wash/Dry tea towels

Monthly

  • Vacuum Store Rooms
  • Sweep Verandah
  • Clean windows inside

As required

  • Set up the Conference Room with glasses and water
  • Set up conference refreshments (hot water, tea/coffee, mugs, plates etc)
  • Clear away and clean up after meetings in the Conference Room
  • Other tasks as requested by the Building Manager

In addition, the chosen candidate will be expected to:

  • Maintain the necessary stock levels of cleaning materials by ordering new supplies as required.
  • Perform, document and report routine inspection and maintenance activities (tell the building manager when things don’t work or need fixing)
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Work with integrity in a sensitive office environment.

  • Sound initiative and good judgement, noting that the individual will be lone working for about 50% of their working day.
  • Responsible & dependable
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of an effective and motivated team

Preferred Starting Date – July 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Contract – 12 month fixed term contract prior to permanent contract (subject to performance)

Hours – 3 Hours per day, 15 hours per week.  0930-1230 Daily.

Salary – £11 per hour plus benefits (pension, death in service, paid leave, with options for private healthcare).
