RMA- The Royal Marines Charity are extremely proud to have a new position become available within a growing team. As a Recovery Support Worker, you will assist in delivering RMA-the Royal Marines Charity Substance Misuse and Addiction Services by aiding in the planning and delivery of high quality, innovative interventions with Service Users – (SUs).
The successful candidate must:
- Understand the concept of recovery and apply those principles to develop an environment and service that enhances recovery
- Put the SU at the centre of their support and promote optimism and hope for their increased independence
- Act as a positive influence encouraging responsible behaviour and self-reliance to SUs
- Support people in a way that maximises their self-reliance and encourages empowerment and self-actualisation
- Support the Addiction Specialist Nurse in the delivery of alcohol and substance misuse education to serving Corps
- Assist in delivery of holistic assessments and interventions
- Creating work plans in support of patient recovery
- Supporting the Addiction Specialist Nurse in recovery care plans to include regular contact with beneficiaries in their continued recovery
- Strengthening engagement of the SU in need
- Promoting the Health & Well-Being team values and mission statement
- Collaboration with other internal delivery pillars and external support services
- Case recording administration as directed by Addiction Specialist Nurse
- Maintaining statistical reports and analysis as directed
- To ensure recovery focused support plans are created, reviewed, evaluated and amended in accordance with changing needs, presenting risks and individual preferences in order to promote recovery
- Undertake key working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Casework Manager or Addiction Specialist Nurse
- To be flexible and responsive to the needs of SUs as directed by their personal recovery plan
- To provide recovery focused support to achieve personal goals/aspirations in partnership with SUs, family members and statutory agencies. To work with SUs on a one to one basis to achieve positive outcomes
- Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks within case recording processes
- To treat all information – both verbal and written – in accordance with RMA Confidentiality policy
- Develop and maintain links with key agencies and service providers in the local community where the SU resides
- Use person centred tools to support recovery and development of SU
- Communicate effectively with people who are in psychological distress, including any who may be acutely unwell.
- Undertake all relevant administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive SU records to professional standards.
- Engage in ongoing research and statistical data collection
- To engage in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills.
- To advocate assertively to statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure that service-users needs are met and link with organisations to provide a range of engagement opportunities for service-users in the community.
- To maintain good relationships with all involved professionals and agencies.
- To maintain good liaison with the SUs immediate community and family.
- To attend and participate in weekly staff meetings, meetings with other professionals and in supervision and training as required.
- To work with the staff team to achieve the aims and the objectives of the service.
- To stay up to date with regard to development and research in the addiction/mental health field.
- To undertake any other duties consistent with the basic objectives and duties of this post.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Able to display empathy and compassion to all SUs in a non-judgemental manner
- Actively involved in SU physical and psychological health needs
- Holistic – empowering positive wellbeing and providing outstanding and innovative services – best possible outcomes for beneficiary
- Comprehensive experience and knowledge of Royal Marines
- Proven record of ability to work with a wider team
- Dynamic nature and good communicator
- Professional attitude
- Ability work in challenging environment
- Experience of working with people
- IT literate to include Microsoft OFFICE 365
- An understanding of care-planning processes and Models of Care within mental health
- Knowledge of group and individual therapy and an understanding of risk management
- Experience of working with vulnerable people whom are undergoing a period of crisis
- Military experience highly desirable

Salary and Benefits
- Initially 1-year fixed term with a view to a long-term position becoming available
- 4-day working week
- Hours 8:30am to 4:30pm
- £28k pro rata
- Plymouth based hybrid working (within COVID guidelines)
- 7% pension contribution
- 30 days holiday (pro rata) + bank holidays
