Role

Research and Education Grants Manager, £45,000 – £50,000 per year (full-time), starting point dependent upon experience, and happy to discuss part-time working.

Greenwich Hospital (GH) has supported serving and former Royal Navy and Royal Marine personnel and their families for over 325 years.  Their wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do as we aim to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of those in need of support.

Founded in 1694, we are a unique Crown body.  Last year, we spent nearly £6m in grants and charitable activities in areas that include education, housing, mental and physical health, employability training and supporting acute needs.

We have a new grants strategy that seeks to draw together existing research to guide the current and future funding of charitable support, as well as the expansion of our proactive and preventative funding to support education and families.  This expanded remit means we have introduced a new role, Research and Education Grants Manager, as part of our charity team of four.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in the delivery of GH’s charitable output to RN/RM beneficiaries in accordance with the Hospital’s objectives, governing legislation, policies and budgets.

2. Co-ordinate available research to identify gaps and focus GH spend. Help shape GH’s charitable work in education and in the new Children & Young People’s opportunities programme.

3. Role includes direct delivery of support and delivery with/through others to ensure high impact and effectiveness. This will also include the development of new projects and programmes together with funding strategies to tackle unmet need.

4. Strengthen current charity partnerships and establish new ones. Strengthen and assure impact monitoring and reporting across applied grants using best practice in current research methodology.
Person Specification

You will empathise with Greenwich Hospital’s mission and Royal Navy personnel (past and present) and their families.  You will have the ability to engage easily with Navy structures and personnel, especially on the welfare side.

Deadline for receipt of applications: 23:59 on Monday 10 June, 2024.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to in-person interviews at our London office at a date yet to be confirmed but likely to be the afternoon of Monday 17 June or Tuesday 18 June, 2024.

Greenwich Hospital aims to be an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community, including former members of the armed services.
