Due to the nature of this vitally important role anyone wishing to volunteer must complete an initial two-day training course (held at the Sir Gordon Messenger Centre, CTCRM). On successful completion, a volunteer becomes a Royal Marine Association Support Volunteer. The course is currently held annually during October (Fri pm to Sun pm).

Training covers subjects such as:

  • Active Listening Skills
  • Confidentiality
  • Safeguarding when working with vulnerable adults
  • Keeping yourself safe
  • Understanding RMA-TRMC policies including volunteer expenses, monthly return etc.
  • Assessments/case recording

In-order to remain current each Royal Marine Association Support Volunteer should also attend the annual seminar/conference at least once every three years. These events are held annually during October at the Gordon Messenger Centre, CTCRM) and also run from Fri pm to Sun pm.
