G’Day Mate! 15,000km away ‘Down Under’, D Sqn’s CSS Tp (Vidar) have been making unforgettable memories during our deployment. Embarking RFA Lyme Bay in Brunei, Vidar Tp have bronzed and flexed (with budgie smugglers!) on the flight deck, crossed the equator en-route to Darwin and then deployed to sustain Littoral Response Group (South) on Ex Predators Run.
This bilateral amphibious exercise focuses on a warfighting mission set. Exercising in a training area 22 times the size of Salisbury Plain, we’ve had a monumental task sustaining 40 Cdo RM with resupply routes taking two days to road move between Darwin and the Bradshaw Training Area. Fused with the Australian 1 Brigade Logistic Team, we have integrated operating vehicles, weapons and learning the lingo while exchanging concepts for future operations noting the ranges involved are what CLR are planning and training against.
We’ve been hosted superbly throughout with Australian partners keeping Vidar Tp well supplied with electrolytes (goffas), protein (kangaroo and beef jerky) and essential mozzie net-roll mat combos to ward off the critters. Despite some essence looking creeks to cool off in we’ve been disciplined noting they’re home to the biggest saltwater crocs.
