Military funerals are often led by ceremonial traditions such as the dressing of the coffin, the procession, the role of the Standard bearer, and the Last Post and Reveille.
They honour those who fought and served for their country and are a final tribute to a veteran’s military service. Our team has the knowledge and experience needed to help guide you to provide a fitting tribute which marks the passing of a veteran in a dignified and fitting way.
Our commitment to helping you doesn’t stop once the funeral is over. We’re here to support you and your family afterwards, too.
Bugler
If you would like a Bugler to attend a funeral, please contact the Membership team who will provide you with the Bugler request form and a contact email address for the Royal Marines Band.
The Royal Marines Band will only deal with one point of contact for the funeral. We are unable to action this for you, or track the progress of the application.
If you are unable to secure a Bugler for the date of the funeral there are alternative options available, including playing a video or soundtrack.
Standard Bearers
The RMA have a network of Standard Bearers that are based all over the country. Standard Bearers work on a voluntary basis to attend funerals. Once you have the date and time of the funeral, we will reach out to local RMA Branches to see if their Standard Bearer is available.
Obituary
We can place an obituary in our weekly email to notify members of the passing of a Royal Marine or a member of the RM community.
Please email us with any text and accompanying photo to membership@rma-trmc.org This can include funeral details.
Funeral FAQs
Unfortunately, we do not have a flag that we can loan out for funerals. You can purchase these online through sites like amazon and eBay.
The RMA are unable to source Pall Bearers for funerals.
We hold a very limited supply of Green Beret’s at Central Office; we can send these out for a small donation to RMA – The Royal Marines Charity. However, if we are out of stock these can be purchased online through sites like eBay.
