Royal Marines Veteran Tim Crossin, affectionately known as the “Cold Dip Commando,” had previously embarked on a series of cold dips around the British coastline. He had planned to challenge himself once more to raise funds for RMA – The Royal Marines Charity, Lymphoma Action, Rock 2 Recovery and the Bowra Foundation.
Sadly, on December 3, 2024, Tim peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, as he had wished. Dedicated to keep his memory alive, Tim’s friends and family have decided to embark on the challenge themselves.
Tim inspired countless people with his courage, resilience, and unwavering positivity, regardless of the challenges he faced.
His daughter Kelly shared this heartfelt tribute: “I’ve never known someone to inspire people how Dad did. He was so courageous no matter what was thrown at him, he never let things negatively affect him, even with a life expectancy thrown at him. He continued to be humble and kind no matter the situation. I know he will be remembered for all he is and will forever be. He joined the Marines at 16 knowing he wanted to serve his country and make a difference, and he did that every single day. Even though he’s not here physically, I know he will keep making a difference. Love you, Dad, forever and always xx.”
Join the Cold Dip Commando swim, taking place across the British coastline, in memory of Tim Crossin. This event honours the legacy of a remarkable Royal Marines Veteran who inspired many through his courage and determination. Let’s come together to celebrate Tim’s life and continue his mission of spreading positivity and supporting worthy causes.
The Route
Remaining as true to the original plan as possible. Most dips will be mid-day with some adjustment to tide and weather conditions.
The challenge will start on New Years Day at around mid day at Branksome Beach with goodbye festivities at Rock water.
