Time is running out to take home this truly unique piece of rock history.


The online auction for the iconic ‘Legacy of the Royal’ drum set as played on by legendary heavy metal drummer of Iron Maiden, Nicko McBrain, at this year’s 52nd Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall is due to close on Sunday 10th November at 22:00.

The uniquely colourful drum set was the centre piece for this years Mountbatten Festival of Music where it was played accompanying the 100+ musicians of the Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines’ and world-renowned Corps of Drums. Enthralling a sell-out audience, the drum set was used to play illustrious titles as ‘The Maiden Legacy’ (a stirring new medley of the band’s classic hits ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, and ‘Run To The Hills’).

Designed by the British Drum Company to commemorate the 360th anniversary of His Majesty’s Royal Marines comes as a complete set, including a full set of paiste cymbals with a painted 40” gong. Each drum has been handcrafted and incorporates Iron Maiden’s Eddie mascot in a different Royal Marines uniform, from 1664 to the present day, with Spean Bridge Memorial background featured on all the drums. All items of equipment come with its own custom Hardcase® protective case.

 After being available to bid on since March of this year, the online auction for this legendary drum kit is ending on 10th November. The top two highest bidders from the online auction will have the choice to either particate over the phone or attend this year’s annual RMA – The Royal Marines flag ship Guildhall Dinner, where the bidding will continue in the live auction, which will take place on Thursday 14th November.

RMA – The Royal Marines Charity are thrilled to have such an unparalleled item of artistry donated to this year’s auction and all monies raised from the drum set will be given to RMA – The Royal Marines Charity and the Grand Order of Water Rats Charity.
