WO1 (CRSM) Jukes joined the Royal Marines on the 8 July 1996. After completing recruit training at Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, Lympstone, he served at 45 Commando Gp and 40 Commando as a General Duties rifleman before specialising within the Landing Craft branch for the next seven years, serving much of that time at 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines, as well as both 4 and 6 Assault Squadrons.
CRSM Jukes completed his Junior Command Course in 2002 and Senior Command Course in 2007 after which he returned to the General Duties specialization, serving at 42 Commando, Armoured Support Group and Commando Logistic Regiment.
Attending the Advanced Command Course in 2013 he promoted to Warrant Officer 2nd Class, returning to 42 Commando Royal Marines where he was privileged to serve as the Company Sergeant Major for both Lima and K Company, deploying on various overseas taskings as part of the Lead Commando Group.
Throughout his career he has attended various courses including Cold Weather Warfare Instructor, Reconnaissance Leader, Skill at Arms, Unit Intelligence Officer, and Tactical Intelligence Officer. He has worked and trained in numerous theatres including mountain, arctic, desert and jungle. He has gained operational experience in multiple tours of Iraq, Afghanistan, and East Africa.
In May 2016 he was successful at the Warrant Officer 1st Class Regimental Sergeant Major selection board, serving four Regimental Sergeant Major appointments – Commando Logistic Regiment, 30 CDO IX Gp RM, the Joint Counter Terrorist Training Advisory Team (JCTTAT) and the RSM of 3 Commando Brigade (United Kingdom Commando Forces). In 2024 he attended ‘KEYSTONE’, the United States Command Senior Enlisted Leadership course, as the United Kingdom representative.
In June 2024 he was honoured to be appointed as the seventeenth Royal Marines Corps Regimental Sergeant Major, the senior enlisted serving Royal Marine.
