This week, we unveil ‘a lot of excitement’ following an extraordinary and thrilling drum-off at last weekend’s spectacular Mountbatten Festival of Music; and share news of some incredible career moves!
Nicko McBrain’s now historic and never-to-be repeated ‘Legacy of the Royals’ drum kit is being auctioned to raise money for RMA – The Royal Marines Charity and the Grand Order of Water Rats charity, through an online auction that closes at 22:00 on Thursday 14th November 2024.
In bringing you this week’s news, we also look forward to supporting the 52nd Mountbatten Festival of Music this weekend at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It not only promises to be a truly unique experience for the audiences attending the three sell-out concerts, but will guarantee a ‘watch this space’ moment in next week’s Update when we will have a lot of extra excitement to share!
This week, we bring you much-awaited news about national D-Day commemorations; unexpected issues faced by some of our amazing fundraisers; and how to keep the Corps close to a loved one’s heart.
When we caught up with inspirational former Royal Marine, Jonathan Rees, just before Christmas, he was over a third of the way into his 32-week ‘Commando Don’t Drink Challenge’.
Now. still dry and on week 22, he could not have imagined how quickly all the positive things that had begun to turn his life around just a few weeks’ ago would be put to the ultimate test.
This week, alongside poignant examples of much-needed support provided, there is something of a travel theme running through the news – from an Albanian trek and a Maltese run, to another surprise from the world of music and how to bag the perfect travel companion!
