Clive is a proud former Royal Marine from Edinburgh living with a number of service-related injuries that are seriously impacting his everyday life.

He has a bullet fragment in his brain, suffers from memory loss and has been diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Waking up and having to face each day with just one of these challenges is difficult, so juggling all three is especially tough, even with a tough Commando mindset.

Struggling with the cost of living and currently on benefits, Clive nevertheless refuses to give in, and is doing all he can to lead the best life he can.

He is working hard to resolve his financial issues and desperately wants to return to work.

However, not knowing how to drive in an area with poor public transport connections has put severe limitations on where he can look for suitable jobs: it also means he can’t go along to local veteran drop-in sessions to meet with businesses offering employment.

And were he to be successful, how would he be able to get to work on time each day, given that many of that could have been suitable were difficult or impossible to access if reliant on public transport – or others, requiring the person to have a driving licence.

Cue RMA – The Royal Marines Charity who, having identified Clive’s issues with help from the Royal British Legion, awarded Clive a grant of £700.00 towards the cost of driving lessons, which will enable him to continue taking the positive steps to improve his life and overall well-being.
