Former Royal Marines Commando Craig Hunter from Kilmarnock will begin his journey to the summit of Mount Everest on Sunday as he heads to Nepal from Glasgow Airport!

He’s no stranger to adventure and he will tackle the world’s tallest peak to mark the 70th anniversary of the first ascent in 1953m and to raise funds for RMA – The Royal Marines Charity. Mount Everest stands at 8,848m in height, and the fundraising target Craig has set himself is £8,848.

Craig will start his journey through the Khumbu Valley to the Everest Base Camp. The challenging journey will require Craig’s body to adjust to the extreme altitude and physical pressure. Once fully adjusted, he will await a suitable weather window to make the final ascent.

If you’re local to Glasgow, why not go along to the Departures area at Glasgow International Airport this Sunday (2nd April) at 1100 to wave off our intrepid explorer.

RMA – The Royal Marines Charity offers lifelong support to the Royal Marines family and Craig’s expedition is a testament to his unwavering commitment and drive to support his fellow servicemen and women.
