A grant of £1,500 from RMA – The Royal Marines Charity towards a specialist orthopaedic bed and mattress has helped ease the pain at night of a 38 year-old former Royal Marine from Glasgow.

Finlay served for ten years before being medically discharged with a spinal injury after an accident in physical training.

His condition deteriorated, leaving him in chronic pain which requires strong painkillers and injections.

Working in conjunction with SSAFA, the Charity arranged an Occupational Therapy Assessment that clearly highlighted Finlay’s specific health issues. It identified that a specialist bed could help him at night, allowing him to be more comfortable and get some much-needed quality sleep, helping improve his qualify of life.
