The West Country 100 – Inspiring business to be the first to understand, adapt, respond and overcome.

On Saturday 16th October, the West Country 100 Annual Dinner took place at RM Chivenor, with thanks to our fantastic hosts, Commando Logistic Regiment.

The West Country 100 (WC100) is a select group of 100 business leaders in the South West of England, who come together and have a desire to enhance support for Royal Marines, past, present and future – who find themselves in need through injury, illness and hardship.

Although the West Country 100 met virtually in 2020, this was the first time the annual dinner was able to take place in person since the start of the pandemic.

“It feels like this dinner has been a long time coming. Covid has tested us all and it has particularly impacted the ability of the Charity to fundraise through events and to nurture relationships with our supporters. The purpose of the evening is to support Royal Marines who past, present and future, have and continue to put themselves at great risk across the globe to defend out national interests.”

Brigadier Paul Denning OBE, Director of the West-Country 100

The evening featured a live and silent auction, with an accompanying raffle, with an outstanding £20,000 in total being raised in support of the Royal Marines Family.

Guests were also treated to an evening of fine entertainment, with music from The Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and comedy from Nick Page, a previous winner of English Comedian of the year and a Britain’s Got Talent finalist.

This year the WC100 recognised member Dennis Hall for his remarkable generosity, determination and courage by awarding him the Mountbatten Sword for “Most Significant Contribution”. Not only did Dennis’ company, Yellowtail Financial Planning, sponsor the Annual Dinner, but Dennis also had just returned from the Sahara Desert, where he took part in the Marathon Des Sables, an ultra-marathon in the desert. Due to blistering 50-degree heat and sickness, Dennis had to withdraw at stage 4 of the race, but this event brilliantly showcased his determination, raising £7,246 for the Charity.

We want to thank every member and supporter of the West Country 100 for their continued support of RMA – The Royal Marines Charity, with special thanks to event sponsors Mundy Roofing and Yellowtail Financial Planning.
