X-Press Legal Services Cornwall & Devon are property search experts based in the beautiful Cornish coastal town of Looe and form part of the nationwide X-Press Legal Services Group.

We are a family business and a leading provider of data to the conveyancing industry. Our complete range of property searches are an essential part of the property-buying process throughout England and Wales. Our clients are legal professionals who demand the highest standards of accuracy and integrity from us, delivered within exacting timescales.

Our data-rich search reports, for both residential and commercial properties, include planning, development, environmental, drainage, contaminated land and flooding. They are fully regulation compliant, so we pride ourselves on our attention to detail. Each report is produced, checked and delivered by trained, qualified professionals working closely with Local Authorities and specialist industry organisations such as Groundsure, Landmark and the Coal Authority.

Our team of experts live in the area we cover and cultivate long-term working relationships with some of the region’s leading property law practices. Although we operate in the below areas, we also facilitate national searches through the network of X-Press offices.

Initially you’ll be learning the business by undertaking search professional duties using a number of different IT databases. However this post has been created as a career development position, with an expectation that the role holder will be suitable for further training and fully supported to take on a new position of office manager. Exceptional candidates may also be considered for further growth within the structure of the business.

Initial duties involve learning systems and processes to capture, order, check and compile detailed and accurate property search reports; validating plans and information. Responding to client queries, liaison with local councils and other suppliers, data inputting and general administration duties. Duties will also include managing, creating and developing social

media content and marketing campaigns as well as maintaining and helping to grow a client database.

What we’re looking for

Experience of producing work that contains outstanding attention to detail whilst working in a environment where frequent distractions and interruptions may occur.

Be able to work independently to realistic standards and upon own initiative, adopting a can- do approach to all tasks in order to achieve deadlines.

Experience of dealing appropriately with confidential and sensitive information acting with honesty and integrity at all times.

A confident, friendly, team orientated person that is helpful towards others, adaptable to new situations and resourceful. Be willing to learn and share new knowledge within the team.

Excellent verbal and written communication, organisation and planning skills. Good IT skills (MS Office 365, especially Excel, Word and Outlook) with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems quickly.

Previous experience of leading a small team preferably within the legal, conveyancing or property sector but this is not essential; with good levels of self awareness and producing high quality results.

Some travel is required mainly around the Cornwall & Devon area. You must have a full, clean UK driving licence with at least 12 months driving experience and access to a vehicle.
