The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a vibrant and growing charity delivering life changing nautical adventure for young people through the Sea Cadets to give them the best possible head start in life. We also provide personal and professional development opportunities for seafarers through the Marine Society. Working with our staff, cadets, and volunteers, we have built a vision and five-year strategy to take us forward and further improve the astounding contribution already made through our work to the lives of thousands of young people and seafarers, while fully supporting our volunteers who are vital to our success.

We are currently looking for a Weapons Security Project Manager to join our Operations team.

Security Project Manager

Location: Remote with occasional trips to the National Support Centre in London

Contract: Ending 31 March 2024

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000

Responsibilities

  • Project manage the end to end routine including revised security arrangements for the safe storages of MOD and MSSC Weapon Systems.
  • Manage the tender process, including collating of documentation, liaising with external suppliers, and co-ordinating and facilitating the tender presentations.
  • Develop a detailed project plan and identifying all the key dependencies, including the key milestones and objectives.
  • Monitoring progress against the project plan and developing a monthly progress report to ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Organising, attending and participating project group meetings including documenting and following up on actions and recording key decisions from meetings.
  • Working closely across departments to collectively deliver the project.
  • Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings.
  • Facilitating ad hoc meetings where appropriate and distributing minutes to all project team members.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level, in security of weapons, business or related field, or equivalent professional qualifications/experience
  • Experience of project planning and delivery, including monitoring and evaluation, and working to targets.
  • Experience of project managing and delivering security hardware project/s, preferably within the third sector.
  • Experience of co-ordinating a tender process including reviewing bids and selecting providers
  • Excellent influencing skills and an ability to foster and maintain successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Former MOD weapons security experience and a passion for development and education in the Third Sector.
  • In date MOD recognised Security Clearance (SC level or above)
