Royal acclaim for Royal Marines Massed Bands’ weekend festival

The presence of His Majesty King Charles in his first public appearance as Captain General Royal Marines proved a moving and surprise bonus to those attending Friday evening’s (10th March 2023) spectacular performance by the world-renowned Massed Bands of His Majesty’s Royal Marines at the 51st Mountbatten Festival of Music.

Taking to the slopes

Thirty two former RM’s joined the trip, including instructors and support team members, some of whom now live in the French Alps and who gave up their time for free to ensure everyone got the most out of their time on the slopes. The group was split into two so each could enjoy a week-long session over the last fortnight of January.

Firing on all cylinders

Members of our Employment & Education, and Health & Wellbeing teams, returned inspired from RMA – The Royal Marines Charity having had a prominent presence and taken advantage of the enormous networking opportunities at the annual National Transition Event (NTE) hosted by Mission Motorsport (MM). It was held at ‘The Wing’, Silverstone Circuit’s state-of-the-art conference centre in Northamptonshire.

A supporting shoulder

Taylor was medically discharged from the Royal Marines Commandos in 1998 following a heart attack. After being discharged, he found work in a homeless facility before deciding to re-train as a registered mental health nurse, going on to specialise in caring for dementia patents.
